曾獲十大傑出青年藝術文化獎的國際陶藝大師李仁燿,出生於苗栗草莓的故鄉大湖鄉農村,從事陶藝創作已有34年,至今仍埋頭創作精進陶藝技巧。位於大湖酒莊草莓文化館二樓的李仁燿藝術館日前開幕,李仁燿從小因為書法而對藝術產生濃厚興趣,就學期間也學習書法、素描和水彩,最後一心投入陶藝創作。李仁燿表示,開始研究手拉坏中難度最高的小口瓶,運用家鄉在地富含23%~26%鐵質的苗栗土,以一氣呵成的精神與技法拉製出瓶口內徑最小只有0.01公分,瓶口只有髮絲般的細小,開創了小口瓶的新天地,更與小口瓶共同建構陶藝生命創作的新時代,而手拉坯小口瓶也被國內外不少收藏家和美術館收藏。大家不妨前往一探陶藝和書法之美,欣賞世界陶藝經典之作的手拉坯小口瓶。

公館紅棗的起源,是來自陳鎮球的曾曾祖陳煥南,成為台灣種植紅棗的第一人。西元 1875年,友人從大陸攜來兩株棗樹,一開始只是給小孩子當零食吃,沒想到卻從此在公館生了根。1937年,母株分枝變四株,在40 年代後,開始分贈親朋好友,種棗樹才普遍了起來。鄉內棗樹如同大陸的雞心棗一樣大小,經過一百多年來的獨立演化,已經和大陸現有的品種產生區隔。農業改良場專家則把公館的紅棗稱為「煥南種」,有尖頂和平頂兩個品系。多年來,雖然也有人移植外地棗樹,但很難繁衍,有些活了也不結果,有些結果了卻在成熟前掉果或黑果,只有煥南種完全適應公館的環境與氣候,成為真正的台灣紅棗。
